My Story

Rocio Herrera has dedicated her life to art. At six years of age, her parents and teachers recognized her talent. She began her art study with well-known art teachers in her native Mexico City. Encouraged by her  teachers throughout her elementary and high school years, Rocio entered the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in 1983 to study Graphic Design.

After graduating in 1987, Rocio’s love of painting led her to return as art teacher at her own elementary/high school in Mexico City. Through the years she rose to become Director of the Art Department at the school.  Her students won several regional and national competitions, and in 1988, Rocio and her students were awarded first prize as the finest exhibitors of art in Mexican schools by the National University of Mexico.

During her art career, Rocio eventually traveled to Wisconsin and fell in love with the abundant natural beauty and ever-changing scenery of the state. Following her dream, Rocio has spent the past 20 years dedicating her art to capturing the beauty of Wisconsin and the State Capitol of Madison in her art collection entitled JUST IN WISCONSIN.

Rocio’s more than 20 years as an art teacher and more than 50 years as an artist has given her the experience and ability to express  the beauty of Wisconsin with exceptional realism and depth of emotion for all to enjoy.
